Even a CEO has to fill out an application along with his resume. |

Barnes and Noble really won't care about the resume of their future Cafe clerk. You should be fine filling out the application like everyone else. |

Definitely still fill out the application - if you're feeling ambitious, why not hand them a resume as well? It will show them that you're a serious applicant. |

Well you have to be 18 to work at Barnes & Nobles anyways, so they wouldn't hire you. Not sure about borders. If borders is 16 or more, in addition to filling out of the application, attach the resume or go drop it off. Most 17 year olds don't know what a resume is, so the fact that you even have one shows you're beyond your years. |

You are required to fill out the application because it answers the questions they want/need to know...plus you have to sign it. (there is usually a waiver above the signature line; sometimes it is an 'at will' statement). A resume highlights your accomplishments (that's why you want to include one)...an application is a list of ALL your jobs in order (so on a resume, if you skip the one you got fired from, no harm done; not allowed on an application). Hope this helps. |

When the job asks for a resume, then give it. But when they ask for an application, don't add to it. |
