Would employers hire a teen that is only willing to work 3 hours a day?
Of course school is my biggest priority, but it seems all of the teens in my area work longer hours than I would expect. It seems like a lot of them work around 5-6 hours a day. Would employers find it unreasonable if I asked to only work 3 hours a day? I still want time to be able to live my life of course, and to do all the other necessary things in like like eat, sleep, bathe, etc. Would anyone even hire me if I asked to only work for 3 hours?

It depends on what type of job, I have had jobs that allowed me to work short hours, (such as after school til about 6, or from 6 to about 9. Retail jobs tend to want you to work at least 5-6 hours at a time. I know my brother worked at a fast food place, and he only worked 3-4 hours a day during the school week. |

Find a job as a restaurant host. Usually they only get 20 hours or so a week. Also, check your local street corner for a man with a furry purple hat, he might be able to help. |

Probably not. The better your availability the more likely they are to hire you, and the more hours you can get. Maybe you could ask to work like 5 or 6 hour shifts but only be able to work 4 or 5 days a week. So then you can still have time to do whatever else you need. |

You need to search for an employer that would, by asking an employer directly. |

Depending where you live depends the hours you work.in california where i live a highschool student can only work 20 or 25 hours a week i forget which one so you'd be working about 4 hour days and working about 4-5 times a week.thats all from what i remember but you should really check your states laws and maybe applications might have the hours for part time jobs.hope this helps. |

You will have a VERY hard time finding a job at 3 hours max. Many larger stores (who are more prone to hiring part time teenagers) usually have a minimum of 4 hour shifts. The smaller companies also will probably need you for more than three hours a day too. Sorry, but you just aren't ready to work with that attitude. |

Why would it be worth it to them to hire somebody for only 3 hours? |

Domino's Pizza-cook. 6-9 weekdays and 6-10 Friday and Saturday. These are their busiest times. |

First off there are restrictions on how long a minor can work, amount of hours time they have to leave on a school night etc. With that said most employers it would not be worth their time to only have you work 3 hours Now you can limit the day your available so you have days to do things also you can have a later start time like not start til 5 or 6 which will give you a few hours to do home work and get ready for work. |
