Would a year of interior design courses help me acquire a job as an interior decorator?

Id love to do something in the interior design/decorating feild! but $4000 a year for 4 years is very steep for me. And i know that interior decorating doesnt require the bachelor that design does. id like to ensure my best shot at getting a job in decorating to start and use that as my base to build on becomeing a interior designer. would 1 year of schooling in interior design help me aquire a job as a decorator? and what are the job prospects for decorators in canada? id like to work for a company rather than independantly.

I don't think that one year would be enough. School always helps, but just one year? Nah. You would come across as a freshman - which would actually be true.

I don't know about the job prospects for that field in Canada, sorry.

Keep in mind that there is a sort of recession going on - the demand for luxuries like remodeled kitchens and fancy interior decorating is pretty low right now. Most people simply don't have the extra money for those things currently.
