Will my friend ever get a job?

He has a degree in physics and another one in law (6-7 years of school total)... he had about 2-3 years of actual employment but that was 8 years ago... it's been about 2 years since he finished law school and he failed the bar about 3 times, hasn't worked since then. What are his options? He's $90,000 in debt from all the school and nothing to show for it.

Hah, I think I know this person.

Anyway, he either doesn't want to work or he thinks he's too good to work for lower-paying jobs. He can either get serious about the bar and try his luck at getting a crappy law firm job or he can do something else, maybe with his physics degree. A basic office job might be a good idea. He needs to learn a work ethic. I think he was very comfortable being sheltered in academia and that the real world feels boring and tedious and stressful to him, but that's what having a job is like.

He'll get a job when he brings his value in line with what employers are willing to offer. Right now, he thinks he's worth more than employers are willing to pay. He needs to reduce his asking price.

But professional students are hard to convince. My bet is he will have to go through a lot of pain before he "demeans" himself by taking a job for less money than he thinks he's worth. He'd be better off to take any job today, then work himself up the corporate ladder, but he won't see it that way.

What are his options? Take whatever job is offered at he pay it's offered at. Once he has a job, then work on increasing his income.
