When filling out job applications, what are some good reasons for leaving jobs? I quit my last one because I had to take care of my Grandma, how should I phrase that?

First off, if you left a job and were NOT fired or forced out, you can tactfully state that you 'resigned for better opportunities'. At an INTERVIEW you can state, tactfully, why you left. IF you left on good terms from your prior employer (i.e. gave two weeks notice, etc.) then let the company 'contact' them. These days, people are often leaving jobs to take care of sick spouses or family members. IF your potential employer can't support this...then you don't need to be working for them. Life happens...and IF an employer can't allow you the time to take care of your loved ones, they are not an employer to be working for.

Personal obligations.

Or you could simply write "resigned". You might be asked about it in an interview, and at that point you can explain.
