What to say when following up a job application with a phone call?

I turned in a few job applications, and i was wondering how i should go about calling/following up. some of the places i applied in person and another few online. what to say when following up? like can you please write out a mini script? i am a teen so its not like a professional job or anything.

I would call and ask for the Manager. Then I would ask the Manager if he or she has looked over the applicants yet. If not, ask when they will and if it is ok to call back after that if you didn't hear back from them. If they say yes they have looked over the apps. ask if they looked at yours and if it is possible to be considered for an interview.

That is it, do not ramble on and on about yourself, keep it short and sweet, cause you may have interrupted the manager and is pressed for time and that would be bad, they will be less likely to comply with you.

Just call and ask for the manager and say that you put in a an application a few days ago and you were just following up to see if the position was still available or ask if they had had a chance to look over your application. Following up is a good thing to do because it let's the manager know that you are interested in the job. Good luck!
