Best advice I ever got was to try a roundabout way of skirting around the question. Be like, "I've done some research and the expected salary for someone in this field with my qualifications seems to be X Amount. But that said, my salary would be very negotiable and I'm sure we can come to some sort of mutually-satisfiable conclusion." |

A reply question on salary expectation gives the interviewer an assessment of what you think about your own self. So you have to be balanced. Quote neither too low nor go for overkill. Your expectation of salary should be commensurate with your qualifications, abilities and the industry that you are seeking entry into. So best of luck. |
