What should I say to say to the manager when turning in a application?

I want a job, and I'm kind of desperate, and someone told me that when I turn in my application/resume that I should always ask to see the Manager and give it to him/her.

But I don't know what to say?

"Hi, my name is ______, ...."

That's all I've came up with so far, I want to make a good impression, and I don't want to say the wrong thing.

help ?

So if you're going to fill out the blanks make sure it's something appropriate for a 16 year old to say! I'm not looking for an office job!

Give the application directly to the manager and before you hand it to him extend your hand and say "Hi, my name is______and I'm here to submit my application" Make sure you look them straight in the eye when you shake hands. Then once they have taken it, thank them for their time and leave.

The reason why you should ask to speak to the manager is because the manager is usually the one doing the hiring. If you make a good impression then he/she is led to believe that you are assertive, responsible and a leader. What would you say to the Varsity Cheerleading captain if you wanted to be a cheerleader on her team? Or what would you say to the head coach of the volleyball team if you wanted a spot on it?

Managers like people who are assertive, team players who will do more than the bare minimum. Find a way to convey that to the manager when you drop off your application and you'll make a lasting impression. Practice now because this is a skill you will need throughout the rest of your life. It's called the 1 minute elevator speech.
