What should I say in a job interview when asked why I want to work there?

It's my first job, hopefully as a cashier at a CVS. Nothing special. What's the best way to answer this without sounding like I'm only in it because I'll get a paycheck?

If it's a cashier position, and assuming you have aspirations to do other jobs later in your life, I'm sure your prospective boss/manager knows that it'll be a temporary job for you. You just want to put your best foot forward. The boss will be looking for someone that can represent the "face" of the company - you will be "face of the company" the public sees, and if people have a good experience at the "point of sale," they may come back. Certainly, if they have a bad experience at that point, then they will be less likely to come back. Think of what you appreciate in a cashier when you shop - someone who is cordial, efficient, etc. Be the employee you'd like to deal with if you were a shopper. |
