What job would be right for me when I get older?

I love working with kids. I am very creative. I like fashion and music, and basically I want to make a really cool place for kids. What kind of business could I run?

You could mix all these things together. Start a daycare/ after school center. Make it fun and engaging. Hire people who are trained to work with and teach kids. Find your niche by focusing on "special centers" that teach and engage children using music, art, color, various activities and allow the kids to create music, fashion, art work, poetry, etc. If you have a unique view and do more than just "babysit" kids parents will be knocking down your door.

Whoa, a business and a job are two whole different things! Anyway, I totally dig your question "what kind of business could I run?"

Today's business is all about differentiating yourself, establishing a strong brand, and conveying a favourable image to the market. So, in light of that, I think you can use all your passions to run a business which combines all of those elements. All you need to do is to research the market to see what people want (and are willing to pay for), observe what your competitors have and haven't done to satisfy those wants, identify your market's needs, and formulate a business concept that answers to those needs but in a way that is different (and comparatively attractive) from your competitors.

Daycare centers are a good business idea, as these days more and more moms work and need a great place where they know that their babies are well taken care of. Entertaining kids while helping them get oriented with this world takes a lot of creativity! Perhaps you could have an in-house band that does a daily music hour for the kids; and promote it by supplying scientific data claiming that music does miracles to a child's brain development. There's so much you can do with music: dances, storytelling, singing, musical puppet shows, body percussion... or just having some simple music instruments like xylophones, toy pianos, and african drums as part of the children's play.

Then when your daycare hours are over, you'll have a freely available music studio. Perhaps you could make more money off that by arranging for some of the in house band members to offer music lessons to older schoolchildren.

Merchandise is also a great thing to use to strengthen a brand. My high school has a significant merchandise business which sells very well within its community of students and old scholars: apparel, stationery, bags, notebooks, stationery, accessories, water bottles, photo albums, blankets, a whole collection of sentimental items, and even teddy bears! Perhaps you could design some cute fashionable items to go into your daycare merchandise to help boost some advertising, and strengthen daycare goers' (parents') sentimental attachment to the daycare.

Btw have you ever heard of this family entertainment centre called KidZania? It offers kids a full day's experience of becoming whatever they might want to be when they grow up; it's actually quite hip and awesome. Perhaps you could franchise with them, or if not, at least draw some inspiration. www.KidZania.com

Alternatively, you could also become a fashion designer for kids, but perhaps launching your own business in that department may be more complicated, and you probably don't get to work around kids every day either.
