What is the difference between a Duty Manager and a Deputy General Manager?

I am wanting to know within the hospitality industry (UK) what the difference is between a Duty Manager and a Deputy General Manager. Which one is higher in rank and what authority does either individual have?

The deputy General manager probably as the higher authority as he / she is deputy to the general (overall) manager. The duty manager is the manager that is on call or on site to cover a specific time period be that nights / weekends etc. However is some smaller establishments the general manager might also be the duty manager for a specific time! |
