What does this mean when a potential employer says this?

I applied for a job at a grocery store and today I called the hiring manager and we talked a little bit. I was really nice, answered all her questions.... and then at the end she says "Well, I am booked with interviews for today, but I will give you a call if I can squeeze you in." Does this mean I don't have the job, or even an interview? I mean if I can't even get a job at a grocery store... where can I? :(

It means he doesn't have room in his schedule to interview you today. Call tomorrow and ask when would be a good time to schedule an interview. Keep applying to other places. Just because you don't get one job doesn't mean you can't get another. There are a number of reasons why employers pick one candidate over another and you never know who else is interviewing for the same position. Sometimes it comes down to luck... or timing. So be the first to get there at the next job just in case this one doesn't work out. |
