What does 16$ base per appt mean?

I know is mean per appointment. They said that it is not tellemarketing or whatever but I don't understand, is it a base pay meaning that you get the money only if you set an appointment? otherwise your screwed? im confused... is this a good opportunity for me or is it a scam or shady job?

$16 Base means thats the starting wage.

Yeah they are probably just trying to say that you need to make an appointment.

There's probably an opportunity to sell in the appointment. so, if you sell them something then you get more, otherwise you only get 16. these days, "sales" can mean just about anything. I have a friend who encourages people she talks to on the phone in quality control to consider buying more... if they do, she gets the commission. she even says things like "sorry I couldn't come to the phone right away. our company is having a big sale on doughnuts today - 50% off on the entire stock & it's a madhouse in here. what's that? you want to buy some, did you say?"... even if the customer didn't say anything about buying doughnuts! she's not telemarketing either.
