What do you do when the interviewer does not call you back and he said that he will?

So, this employer found my resume through a website. Calls me, I go. Everything works out perfect.
I thought there couldn't be a more perfect job for me. The guy seemed to think so too. And I was thrilled coz the job is well paid now that I'm unemployed.
It's been two days and he hasn't called me yet. The last thing he asked me when I was leaving was "How old are you again?". And I answered "20". It was so sudden I couldn't think of a better, more sophisticated answer.
Now I know that we both know that I'm the perfect guy for this job. Could it be that because of my age he thinks I won't make a good employee? Or is it that I just need to wait longer and I'm being paranoid?

Two days is not a very long time. I'm sure the interviewer is busy with day to day stuff, but you should definitely call him back and reiterate your interest in the position. This shows you are a motivated job seeker (however, do not pester him by calling back repeatedly, simply speak with him again, express your interest and ask when you might expect to hear more). |

That's a shame, since he should not even ask your age. You may be right about the "too young" thought, and next time someone asks that you could just say, "I'm a twenty-something" or "I'm in my twenties." And HR department worth their paychecks would never ask your age. If you don't hear from him by Monday, call and tell him you would be a good asset to his business and ask if you are still being considered. That's fair enough. Good luck! |

I would keep looking for other jobs. The guy is either looking up your resume or he is trying to be polite and doesn't want to confront you. Don't give up hope. Keep looking elsewhere anyway. |
