What do I enter for "job reference" if this is going to be my first job?

I'm apply for a job online, and they require a "job reference." I've never had a job before, so what do I enter?

Find a trusted teacher to vouch that you are a hard worker.

They are looking for someone who knows you, preferrably in a professional capacity.

If this is your first job, someone who knows your work habits like a teacher or coach would be appropriate.

Most people, myself included, prefer to give references after the first interview. That gives me a chance to tell my references who will be calling and what the call will be about. After all, people are busy and are unlikely to even answer a call from a stranger out of the blue.

You can put something like "To be provided later as needed".
