I highly suggest you find another job, work for a year or more to save up for your own business. The beauty of having a business management degree is that professionally you have all the general opportunities. Nothing too specific.

You can franchise, you can open something new and original...etc Research about the demands in your area. What would they need or desire. Find a great location.

This will give you the freedom of being your own boss unless you franchise. Franchising still gives you the "be my own boss" feel but you still have to answer to the franchise.

Another thing is the stock market. You can invest. Down side is that at this time the stock is well...basically...crap! But I bet not ALL are crap...Look into it.

Explore opportunities...Think outside the box. What do you have to lose?

With whatever you do decide to do, no matter what! Don't borrow money from anyone or any banks. You don't want to be in debt if you're unsuccessful with the whole new business thing. Work for the start up capital. It may take years. Set up a savings account for the "in case" situations that may arise.

Military service at home doesn't mean much. Unless EVERY factor is exactly equal and the other guy has no military service, you have no advantage. What you have is probably just a six year defecit; while you were training and serving, some other guy was looking out for himself and he has that much experience on you. I get interviews out of curiosity, but never the job.

I'm at 20 years service (half Guard/half Active) and have a BS in biology. I have 4 MOSs (Infantry, Mechanic, SP, and supply) and just turned 40. I cannot earn a decent living at home and have been gone for almost all of the last four years while my kids grow up without me. If get an answer, let me know.

In the mean time, you might consider contracting overseas.

Start with www.KBR.com and see where you fall in to the job search. KBR starts guys at almost 90k tax free. They use almost every support MOS (cook, electrician, warehouse, mechanics)

BTW: What is your MOS? If you are interested in contracting in a war zone, I may be able to give a better suggestion than KBR if I know more.
