What can I do to get a job ASAP?

Here's the story. I am 22 almost 23 and I have never had a full time job. I've had part time jobs, but my hours are always cut back. My parents are always on my case about not working. They want me to snap into the real world. Its not like I am not looking for a job because I've been looking non-stop for months and I haven't gotten any interviews.

I still live at home and I don't drive. And I want to be able to afford to move out as soon as possible, but I am not working full time. I have been applying non-stop and only gotten 1 interview. The only places that are willing to hire people are fast food places like McDonalds and Diary Queen and I know I can do better than working the fry machine. I have exerpience working in different fields, but no one seems to be wanting to hire me. I need a job right now without applying to fast food joints. Is there any way I can get a job without having to work with grease? I don't want to tell people that I work for $8 a hour at a Burger King.

Google -Temporary agencies for your area, you can usually start a job immediately and they'll usually try to pick one for you that suits your personality. There is a chance the employer will want to hire you as a permanent employee.

Temp. agencies have access to a large variety of jobs and sometimes they are enjoyable.

Good luck.

The job market is really competitve right now. There are people with masters degrees taking positions as cashiers because they need it. If you are not ready or able to go back to school right now, then you have to work at making yourself marketable now using your experience.

Step one would be to start searching. When you find one that interests you, look at the requirements for the position. Then write down what you did in the jobs that you held before. What you are looking for is transferrable skills. For example, if you were a security gaurd one of the skills needed is the ability to write reports. A secretary has to write letters, see where I am going. Then you can say in your resume that you have word processing experience because both jobs required typing.

Before the interview, look at the job description again and look for key words that the employer uses like organized, team player. So on. When you are in the interview use those words to describe yourself.

As far as places to look, hotjobs, monster, craigslist the local paper and the website for the local paper. The thing to remember is that 100 applications sent out is a drop in the bucket.
