My father offered to pay my way through college. (6-8 years as if I go I'm planning on getting my PhD in Psychology).
The thing is, I really want to be a psychologist, but I also don't want to be stressed and miserable for 8 years. I feel like it's gonna take a big portion of my life.
Something that I've always been gifted at, is doing hair, and I feel like I can do that without the stress and responsibility of being a psychologist, even though it's always been my dream.
But if I go to college, I pretty much have it made because of my father. What should I do? I'm afraid if I go I'll regret it because I'm just trying to please him.
My heart says go to beauty school, but my brain says go to college.

If you're just doing it to please someone else, you won't be happy. But... you could always get the basic courses out of the way on his dime while you figure out what you want to do. Any way you could get a job as a hair stylist or another job in a salon while taking courses? This would be a great way to get experience in the field and see if it's what you really want to do. And if you decide it's not for you, you've already got a year+ of schooling out of the way toward a 4 year degree - even if it's not in psychology. |
