What's the best job for a chemistry graduate?

the first is what jumps straight into most people's minds. there are a TON of these jobs in the pharmaceutical industry, and plenty of other unexpected places, too. I guy I know worked for Bic for 9 years formulating new ink mixtures. fun, right? almost every industry that produces a tangible product without outsourcing needs chemists.

field chemists work in the more unexplored realms of science, traveling places that labs cannot go and investigating unknown properties... the crap you read in magazines. you pretty much need to be a Professor at a college to have a job like this, though. it's rare, otherwise.

chemistry teachers are rare to come by, and therefore usually get higher starting pay and benefits than other starting teachers. the reason? well, scientists usually go to work in their field, and very few decide to teach it, so districts work hard to hold onto science teachers.

general lab assistant.... entry level job, what can I say? you basically hold beakers and take notes.
