Want to miss work on Friday, is this a good excuse?

The excuse i have is that I got into a little car accident with my mom's car. I'm going to let some of my work friends know that my mom is taking in my car too get it fixed, so i have to drive her car the next day...you know just small talk.(so when I show up to work on Tuesday in my car it wont look suspicious) anyways I was thinking telling my boss around maybe 745 i got into a little accident not sure if I will be going into work. I go into work at 8:30. is this a good excuse?

How about you grow up and at least act like an adult?

work as scheduled or follow the proper procedure for a schedule change, do NOT lie you will eventually get caught (you are not as clever as you think you are).....

calling at 7:45 for a shift that starts at 8:30 is most likely a policy violation and could get you fired on the spot........

be honest, ask for the day off, explain why you want off, and offer to do whatever it takes to make it happen (that means WHATEVER IT TAKES).....

if it is not important enough to actually ask off using the real reason then you don't need to be off..........

or you could always quit;

let someone who actually wants, and deserves a job be hired to replace you........

Not at all. cal in sick, find somebody to cover you, or just go.

Instead of telling your boss a excuse just approach him and request the day off

just say "I need to take ____ off for personal reasons" and he shouldnt ask any questions from there and if he does just say "id rather not want to talk about it"

It looks better and you will probably forget the excuse in the future

As a manager, this is not a good excuse at all. If it's a small car accident, there's no reason to miss work. If you were injured or the car was extremely damaged, then I'd understand. Just have someone take your shift (if you're in retail) or take a personal day (if you're in an office setting.)
