Underwater welding job or ?

I'm 20 years old and live in south Africa . I got a job in underwater welding (in Canada) , the pay is really amazing (R35 000 or round about $4400 pm) . Should I take the opportunity or keep going on with my advance java programming ? (in SA white people don't get jobs) nothing racial from my side , just saying . cons and pros / advice would be much appreciated .

Well it really depends on you. Underwater welding may pay extremely well, but it is very dangerous work. The average life span of an underwater welder is only about 7 years. Another question would be, how good are you at welding underwater? If your not very good then you wont have the job for long. Also welding underwater is extremely cold. |

If you have a certification as an underwater welder and enjoy the work, I suggest taking the job and continuing the advance JAVA programing. There are a lot of programmers looking for a job. There are not a big excess of certified underwater welder. I wish you the best. |
