Thank you note from an intern?
Hi!
I would like to ask your opinion: what would be the most appropriate message to put in a thank you note to my ex-co-workers? I was an intern in the financial company this Spring. People there were very nice and supportive, so I wanted to send them (5-6 people) thank you notes. I am not very creative at writing such messages... Any help would be much appreciated!

I think it would be most appropriate to send just one note. Address it to the department manager or the supervisor over the area where you worked. In the note you could say that you appreciate the time and patience they showed you during your internship. Let them know that you feel like you learned a lot from them. You might mention that should you ever be in a position to work with an intern, you feel as if you'll be able to draw on your experience with them. Wish them the best and sign it Sincerely, _______. |

Tell them thank you for the opportunity, tell them what you liked about the job and tell them what you learned from the job. |

Don't bother. Your thank-you note will go into the shredder. They have already forgotten you, and a note won't change that. Of COURSE they were supportive - you were FREE LABOR for them. Internships are the biggest scam out there - states are now cracking down on them. You really think you got "real-world experience" making coffee and picking up their dry-cleaning? You think anybody reading your resume cares about an internship? Guess what - they guy in HR who reads your resume has his OWN intern making him coffee. BTW, I want mine black. |
