Student works painting...Bad idea?

I've been looking for a job since last summer. By the way I'm 16, in 4th year of highschool. I have always looked locally so that I would not have to do too much traveling, because I do not have a car (so i use bus). I found a position for Student works. I went to an interview and got an email saying that I have been picked among a pool of candidates to participate in a tryout canvassing session. Basically, it's a tryout to see if I am able to advertise paint jobs in certain areas.
I came across some comments on this company...some very bad comments. Comments like: they underpay their workers and too much work for what you are paid.
If anyone knows anything about this company, if you have maybe worked for them, please let me know what I am in for. I'm just a student looking to make some pocket money. I don't think I can afford to be taking 2 hour bus rides just to make a few bucks. I want to know if this is a mistake.
