I work for a sewer pipeline maintence and constuction company, however, i am very bored with my job. i have been in treatment plants and have been thinking about going to school, getting certified, and getting a job in a plant. at 47 do you think iam to old for the job. and why do operator say it a dying trade

Those plants are going to be around for a long time. Your plan can work. Also consider a nuclear plant since many people are scared to work in them. They might make a comeback if oil becomes a problem.
