Should i go to college?

Im about to graduate from high school and would like to go to college and major in some type of liberal art major. Maybe political science, Maybe History? im not sure... but i've been hearing that These type of degrees are useless unless you plan on teaching. I dont plan on teaching. In fact, i think id hate teaching. I read a story about how a poli science grad took forever just to find a decent job. Some say that it isnt true that the only thing a liberal arts student can do is teach. There are lots of good jobs out there that only require a degree and doesnt matter what degree you get. They only care that your educated and dont care what you study.

If your grades are good (As and Bs) in high school, yes, go to college. Liberal Arts graduates tend to do very well in business, government and non-profit careers.

There are other jobs besides teaching that you can do with liberal arts degrees. One of the main ones is an attorney which jobs are plentiful for. There are other jobs such as politics, lobbying, working in museuems, etc.

You need to research what kind of career that you think you would enjoy and then determine how you think you would "get there". But you may have to be more open. For example: I know a women with a masters degree from a very good school. She wants to work in a specific type of museuem in a specific area. The only problem is there are only about 2 places that meet her "needs" so she will have to be VERY lucky to have this actually occur.

I would go to the advisor at the school tell them what you like to do. And then go from there. It would be useless to go to college and then get a degree that is useless.
