Should I train in plumbing?

Category: Other

RaphaelRaphael

Introduction/basic information:

I am intending to proceed in the field of business management and have been accepted to a good university. My particular business has always been a passionate hobby of mine and I intend to pursue a career in the management of my particular field.

The consideration:

I'm sure we would all agree that financial security for your family is a top priority and I'm concerned that although I know I'll give my business careers and studies a continued commitment, there is still a high chance that things might not work out initially or that life will take an unexpected and unplanned turn for the worst.

My solution:

A reputable organisation has given an opportunity to train in domestic plumbing, which I understand is a well sought after and well paid trade. This would give me a usable skill that I could rely on and turn to in the midst of any finnancial problems.

My question to you:

Do you think this is a good use of my time, that I should develop a safety net, or should I disregard the idea and concentrate solely on business.

Well there is no "correct" answer for these kind of questions, but I'll give you my opinion.

I understand that you are being practical, but it also seems that you are assuming the worst possible scenario. If plumbing doesn't affect your studies and your particular interest, then I see no problem with it, however, if training in plumbing intereferes with your passion and interest, then I would encourage you to follow your passion. I once read a story about a person, who always wanted to become a writer, but because he was so afraid of failing he became a dentist. He later explained that he was miserable, and exteremely unhappy with his life, and later committed suicide leaving behind only regrets...

Things can take a turn for the worst, this is true and you should be prepared for that. But not to an extent where you fear it enough to turn away from your dream and passion.

Hope this helps.
