I been a trainee for 3 days now at a sandwich shop. i'm 19 and its my first job ever...even the manager knows that. these 3 days have been only 3 hour days so its difficult to learn everything in so little time. there is so much multitasking involved I have to learn how to make more than 50 things i have to know the cleaning up process as well as how to bake the bread, work on the cash register and take phone orders all at the same time. plus the manager wants me to make small talk with the customers while making their food. its been only 3 days and the manager gets frustrated at me sometimes because i have not fully learned how things go at that place. then a girl that works there has a bf thats good friends with my bf so he was told everything and he kinda gave me a hard time saying im not trying hard enough and I am! its just that its real overwhelming because its my first job! :( my self esteem is at an ultimate low right now...i even got my hours taken away for the next 2 weeks...should I find a place to work better suited for me or should I just suck it up?

That sounds like my first job when i was a youngster, but if there cutting your hours and you only work 3 hours a day, then i suggest you look for a new job but keep the one you have till you find a new one, wont be smart to quit then not a job at all, eventually youll catch on and get the hang of things if you decide to stay, just think positive thoughts.. oh and try not to gossip.. not saying you are or anything but if you are try to cut it to a minimum... good luck =) |
