Should I choose a job according to the location?

I am currently facing a professional crisis as I am hesitating between 2 countries, 2 corporate cultures:

I have been living in the UK for 5 yrs and my professional life has become difficult. One of my temporary contracts ended last week. Before coming here, I was contracting for 4 yrs in Germany. Now I am getting old (37), I don't know what to do next. I live in a big city I love in the UK. I don't have real friends but I have always enjoyed my own company. I like the life style/standards in Germany and the quality of life is much better than here. I am thinking of retiring in Germany. I feel less lonely in the UK. The Brits are quite pleasant and have a good sense of humour!!

I am looking for jobs in both countries but quite frankly I don't know what to do. Besides, I have lost valuable skills since I came here. I am not sure whether I could be a good Consultant or Trainer again (jobs I had in Germany). My previous temporary contract was in a Call Centre. I have never had real good jobs. Maybe because I never wanted to stay here. I left Germany because of the recession in 2003 and also I was lonely. I have been relocated in Scotland in 2004. I don't wish to carry on with basic/bad jobs anymore. Sometimes I have a breakdown because of who I used to be. I am determined to regain my skills but I don't know how and where. I would like to build up a life where I won't have to worry about what/where the next job is going to be. Please help & advise. Thank you.

Choice of country comes first, the job is a paycheck. Choose the best job for you in the city you like.

Vocations abroad are certainly an exciting thought, but you have to be really careful of the legislative implications, if you don't perform your research right, there can be nasty effects! The site in the box below has a lot of instruction on vocations abroad, my buddy found it, now he is a barman in Tasmania!
