Should I become a lawyer or a producer?

Category: Other

LoveRLoveR

I am a high school Sophomore and I either want to become a producer, actress a lawyer. I wanted to be a lawyer for years but then I started to think about it and I don't know how good I am at arguing. People say I love to argue, but I don't think I can make a good argument, although some people say I can, others I can't. I am going to start taking acting lessons next year as my elective. I've been obsessed with celebrities so I looked into becoming a producer and it sounded interesting. I've started watching the behind scenes stuff on DVDs and it looks like fun! I have an uncle who is a producer and he is unemployed. But, then my neighbor is a lawyer and he is unemployed also.I told my parents I want to be a producer and they said "NO WAY!". My dad said "if you major in producing, find a way to pay for your own college", but he said this in front of his friends so I don't know if he was joking or not. After he said this, my mom said "just minor in film." I am taking acting classes next year for my electives and there are tons of opportunities for me to act if I am interested in it. I am going to college after high school, probably Notre Dame or U of Michigan and maybe majoring in Business and minoring in film . I am planning on going to law school after college. If I decide to go with the lawyer career, I want to be a Senator. Or I was considering becoming a producer and then governor (like Ronald Reagan was an actor and then he became President.) There are stars like Peter Facinelli and Ashley Greene who didn't start acting until college and Cameron Diaz who auditioned for a part and got it with no acting experience and Harrison Ford started acting, wasn't making a lot of money acting, so he took of carpentry and then was hired to build George Lucas's cabinets, and then Lucas hired him for Star Wars. I also took a career test and it said either a producer or lawyer! (That was no help at all!) Also, I was looking at employment statistics, and it said for 2008, there were around 100,00 employed producers and 700,000 employed lawyers, but I won't be graduating college until 2017, so I don't know how much the statistics will change. What are my chances of becoming a producer in Hollywood? Can I have some advice? I have no idea what I want to do! Also, my mom said the reason she didn't go to law school was because of how hard it is to find a job as a lawyer. I want to work in the movie industry because it looks like a lot of fun and I love watching movies. I have no idea what to do! I am going to take acting lessons for the first time next year, but I'm not sure if I will enjoy it.

Well, both of them r hard

being a producer or actress is actually fun but u do have to take a lot of lessons

bcoming a lawyer,,,,,, well if u do a great job, u could even save inoccent people from their danger. but then u hav to take a lawschool, and trust me, its boring and hard.very hard as a rock. my young uncle took lawschool for college and he failed in 1 year.... he is very smart and he said for himself he actually tried.

being a producer or even actress, u hav to take audition and then u hav to take lessons and then practice with professionals and then get a part job as producer and actress... it could take years and years... but both of them r great jobs if u really b 1. u will look cool in both position. but just think and hav the job u want and go 4 it without looking back.

hope this helps!!!^^

GOOD LUCK :)

Study to be a lawyer, but keep your passion as an actor alive. If you're talented enough, you'll get picked up. If not, then you're still a lawyer!

You should become a producer, I am also interested in the movie industry an I plan to be a screenplay writer/director. I believe the movie industry would be much more fun and enjoyable than being a lawyer :)

Join a true Irish acting group. Then once you become a lawyer. You will never need to argue. As when all defense is worthless. You can set your Client free on the best of Irish blarney.

Your chances of becoming a successful actor, producer or director in Hollywood or on Broadway are far worse than your chances of becoming a major league ballplayer. Your chances of becoming a successful lawyer hinge on three things, your college GPA and your LSAT scores. If you get into a top ten law school, and do well there, the third variable, you will be employable. If you don't get into a top law school, it won't be worth the $100,000 of debt you will incur to become a lawyer. I know a lot of unemployed and underemployed lawyers.

Ronald Reagan started out as a sports broadcaster. The young Harrison Ford and Cameron Diaz were strikingly beautiful. Are you? I have a friend who tried very hard to break into acting. She actually got a few bit parts being in scenes in a few TV shows, Cold Case was one, but she could not find steady work paying anything and after a few years of working at a Starbucks so she could juggle her hours if she got an acting gig, she went back to school. She is a psychologist now.

Windell Middlebrooks, the guy who does the Miller High Life commercials has an MFA in acting from U.C. Irvine. He probably saw himself doing movies or TV, not pushing a two wheeler full of Miller.

As they say in Hollywood, "Don't quit your day job."

My best advice is to get into the best college you can and then see what vistas open up to you. I never even heard of the job I do when I was a high school sophomore. Your job right now is to get good grades and do well on the SATs. The rest falls into place.
