Nursing has way more variety and money..

As an OT you still have to help people shower and do toileting, most of the things people frown upon nursing for. You have to assess them on it as part of their daily living.

Nursing has more erratic shifts but those shifts are where the unsocial hours payments make a difference. As an OT in the UK you earn the same basic as a nurse but none of the extra payments. However, you won't have to work weekends.

OTs probably have more of a professional base than a nurse which covers a huge range of activities such as drug administration, dealing with emergencies etc. But the job never feels boring. I look at the OT work and it looks wishy washy, dull and frankly, boring.

With nursing you can work anywhere from outpatients, sexual health clinics, medical wards, operating departments, out in the community, GP practice, intensive care/high dependency. With OT you're doomed to a life on a care of the elderly ward bathing old grannies and doing the same assessments.

However, they do add railings and home fixtures to make daily life easier which always interested me.

One plus of OT is when you have problematic/aggressive patients you can just say they refused your session, whereas the nurse is stuck there all day with them. Even if they refuse your nursing care they'll still be in the bed opposite giving you evils lol

If you don't mind blood, giving shots, working long, odd hours, then go for nursing. Occupational Therapist usually work days.
