Should I be ashamed....I've never had a job?

I'm a 17 year old girl with one year left to go in secondary school and live with my mother who is also unemployed.
I've never had a job. All my friends work in supermarkets and stuff but I've never worked anywhere. I put my CV into around 30 different places last summer but didn't get anything and just gave up and didn't bother looking while I was in school. Now there's 2 months left of summer and I won't really be able to work while I'm in school because I won't have time. Should I try getting a job? Relatives and friends keep saying I should but I just hate the idea of going from shop to shop and being rejected..and I've got absolutely no work experience to put on my CV. Should I just try looking on gumtree and stuff for odd jobs like babysitting? I applied to volunteer centres to get some volunteer work for experience but there isn't really anything in my area and I haven't heard back from them and I went into one place asking if I could do work experience but they said they only do that with the schools..someone told me it's because they wouldn't be insured otherwise.
My dream career which I want to pursue is a fashion designer and I've started studying and researching and practicing for that this summer and I want to go to art college.
But in the meantime what should I do?

Get a job put your best foot forward, apply at retail stores , babysit do something to help your mother and you will have time when school starts-there are always weekends. ask your friends where they work if they know of any openings. there is nothing to be ashamed of but you really should try to get a job it will also help out your mom who is getting rejections and has most likely alot of experience in her field so think how she feels. She also cant give you going out money or anything extra so just try to find a job-my advise and opinion |
