Should I ask for a raise yet?

Category: Other

Emma :)Emma :)

I've worked at a higher end coffee shop for about 4 months now, and as a result of a major staff loss and such, have become a very valued employee very quickly. I got the three month probation raise, and previous to that became a key holder.

I was told that when becoming a key holder I would also receive a raise for this, as well as more responsibility. It has been a few weeks of closing 4-5 times a week (working 4-11 pm at least 3 nights a week) however I still have had no word of a raise and am receiving the same as another girl without a key.

Should I ask for the raise?

When you have a calm moment to talk to your manager, just say that you understood that a raise in pay accompanied the responsibilities of a key-holder, and ask when you can expect that to kick in.

If you own a degree - or any extra qualification - then you'll already be ahead of the crowd when it comes to looking for vocations. My pal has a degree and he wasn't certain what direction to go with it, but he stumbled upon some good guidance on the resource in the resource box below which aided him to decide that he wanted to be a lab assistant. There is plenty of help on the resource regarding extra vocations.
