Should I actually use the word "objective" on my resume?

Category: Other

HollyHolly

I have read that recently the "objective" part of the resume has become optional and some even consider it out outdated. Yet, there are also many employers who expect an objective. The field of opinion is basically split.

Anyway, I am thinking I will include an objective, but using the word "objective" seems kind of... well... lame. How can I go about writing my objective statement without writing "Objective:"...? I have seen examples like this. Or should I still use the word? Advice?

Everyone also knows that these days, whatever you write after "objective" actually reads as: " I want to get a paying job wherever I can find one."

I vote to leave it off, unless you are willing to revise your resume for every different employer, because if you don't, it just looks like the job you are currently applying for is not the job you really wanted, but you didn't have the time to revise or remove the objective statement from the resume.
