Shall I mention my failed teacher training in my CV ?

Category: Other

WW

I started teacher training in September 2009 and I was failed in the middle of it, in March 2010. This means I haven't worked since August 2009 which leaves a huge gap on my CV. I've mentioned my teacher training on CVs I've sent in the career summary part of my CV like this:

Jan 10 - Mar 10 : School 2 - Trainee teacher

Sept 09-Dec 09 : School 1 - Trainee teacher

I've had an interview but didn't go past it and now I'm starting to think it's because my employer got in touch with either School 1 or School 2 or maybe both. Things didn't go very well for me at School 1 and were even worse at School 2.

As I've been working in education for a couple of years now, I'm applying mostly to education jobs so I thought that even though it didn't work out, the fact that I had teaching experience was a plus.

What do you think ?

I have no experience in the matter but wouldn't it be better to put it there rather than to leave it. If they dug it up after an interview it could seem that you are being dishonest and perhaps less trustworthy. Honesty has to count for something right? Try it and see if it makes a difference if it doesn't then take it off.

I cannot be job specific but a general rule is that a prospective employer will contact your previous employer about you usually this is done after a job offer but more and more employers are doing this after an interview.

To say that you were a trainee teacher is good, but then at an interview discuss what you did and bring to fore the reason/s why you left from your point of view. I found ??? to be a problem and because of this my employer decided that I was not suitable for the post. Something along these lines.

It may of course as something as simple (?) as a more suitable candidate was offered the job.

You may of course have had some bad interviews.
