To whom it may concern

Re : Court security

With reference to the above position

As you will see from my enclosed CV

Working as Event Security for <company name> I have on many occasions worked alone and been first port of call to the organisers on events such as the <event name> and the <event name> I have extensive knowledge of handling members of the public. My role as Event Security I took the prerogative to get briefs from organisers that I liaised with and also take the initiative to learn more about the event I was going to be working at to better help with queries that the public might have. Working at night venues I have experience in searching, ejection, confiscation of illicit drugs and handling confrontations. Certified emergency first aid at work I have a good understanding of first aid.

I feel I would be a great asset and the skills and experience I have gained would help me be worthwhile too your company.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I greatly look forward to hearing from you

Yours sincerely

I considering getting rid of the first aid qualification i put in or rewording it better. Also i tried using big words but i think the word prerogative was a bit ott for what i intended. Also i put all the stuff about me and might have come across like im too good for the company. Not really mentioned why id pick this company over others, would this be a problem?

If anyone could help me re-word or shorten the letter or suggest stuff i could add, that would be spanking.

Thanks again

Not a bad start but a few developments would improve it.

First, read the job advert thrice. Do you have all of those skills, qualifications and experiences? If yes, then the simplest Cover Letter is a two column list: you want; I have. In other words make it easy for them to know you have the desired SQE combination. The more elegant way to do that is to write them up and paragraph them, either individually or grouped.

Next, send it to a specific person - "To Whom it will concern" never makes impact! Pick up the phone call them, and ask three questions that you couldn't easily answer by reading the job advert/their website (ie: is a medical certificate part of the requirement/training?)

I would put your medical certificate in the Cover Letter: qualifications are always great differentiators. Don't you also need to be approved by the local council to do such work as you at present? That's another certificate I would add.

Oh and clearly: don't mention their competition! Just say why you would like to work for them

Finally, close with a call to action, such as: "I will call you in the next five days." This puts the onus on them to progress your job application, and the control with you.

Good Luck!

Seems good to me. I'd say submit your resume and cover letter then follow up with the company you wish to work for. If you really enjoy what you do, it should show naturally during the interview. What I've learned is that if you can recount your best job-related experiences in a story-telling manner, you'd likely show yourself as a plausible candidate.

Good luck!

As this is a court security role- I wonder if you should take a little more time to think about how your events experience will translate to this very different environment- perhaps you need to look again at the requirements for the role and re-word your letter so there is less emphasis on 'events'. Read through the job description etc carefully- and try to highlight the skills, experience and personal strengths you have gained so far that will be needed for this role.

The other thing that's missing is why you want to work for this company in particular- do a bit of research eg. by looking on their website, and think about why you think they would be a good company to work for, then say something in your letter about this eg. they are an expanding and sucessful company, they have a good training and career development structure, you want to develop certain skills you have in the direction this company works in etc.

Give this some thought and insert a sentence or two about this, if nothing else it shows you have taken the trouble to find out about them, and what they do.

I don't know what country you are questioning from, but Court security jobs in the US are pretty specific in their duties- is this the kind of thing you will be doing? ( see below) If so, then you must explain in more detail how your event security experience will be relevant.
