Possibility of visa extension if I have permanent job role.?

Hi guys. presently I am working in pharmaceutical company in UK on contract basis. Now, I have got an offer for permanent role. I have a valid UK work visa till December 2011.
I am bit confused about the exact term of permanent role. I just want to know that if I accept a job with permanent role then is there any possibility that the company which I would be working will extent my visa later on if I am there permanent employee.
Please help me out of this.
