Honestly, it sounds like you have had a lot more to worry about then what your employer is doing however I will help you out with what I can. I have been a Labor Union President for most of my life and I have dealt with situations like yours quite often throughout my career. I can tell you that you won't have anything to worry about from your employer with your condition being as serious as it is. If you were out for stress, migraines, or even depression then there would be a very good chance that your employer may try to do something to terminate your employment. However, when you have cancer and serious health conditions such as these the employer will be very hesitant to say or do anything derogatory due to the fact that they will be concerned of a possible lawsuit. You have 12 weeks a year available to you through the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) that protects your job when you are out from a serious illness. It was passed and signed into law by President Bill Clinton in 1993 and it is supposed to be 12 weeks of unpaid time. However, if you have either a Union contract or individual contract that guarantees you retain your salary during sickness and injury, then the time is paid and is still covered under FMLA and cannot be charged against you by Federal Law. First let me say that I am sorry for what you are going through with the cancer let alone the treatment you are getting from your place of employment.

I think I would make an appointment to see whomever is in the human resources department, or personnel department, at your job and talk to them. However I would first check the labor site and see what real rights that you have as an employee.

I would also advise discussing things with a lawyer or labor representative so that your rights are protected. If your insurance coverage is through your job like mine, then there is a double worry over having the job position.

I would also try to keep a note on the calendar or somewhere about each time you called and attempted to contact them so that you are able to prove you did stay in contact and actively concerned about your position and they can't say they "never heard from you". I have had cancer and lost time at work but did not require chemo and so I really do understand what you are going through.

I am so sorry for you i lost my mother to cancer last year call and ask for an appointment with your line manager or managing director and see what that does say you are keen to get back to work and good luck
