Ambassadorships are political appointments, at least for US ambassadors. They tend to go to whoever can raise the most money for the presidential campaign of the winner.

What you might be interested in is a career as a Foreign Service Officer. Check out http://careers.state.gov/ for more information on FSOs. While they would probably take any major, I think you need a different path to be successful at it. Foreign languages are a plus, maybe some law courses, and a well-rounded schedule. I had a co-worker who was a retired FSO and he had lots of stories to tell.

Get in touch with the counseling office at USF and ask for career testing. This will show what you are really interested in, even if you don't think you know. They can then put you on the right path. I think you are just a bit lost right now, but don't give up your education. That BA will open doors throughout your life.

If you want to be an Ambassador in Europe, perhaps you should contact a few embassies and ask to speak to human resources to determine what the qualifications are to become one and to apply for that type of job. You could even try contacting an embassy in the U.S. to get some ideas.

You need at least a Bachelor's degree in some type of political or government specialty. Political science is probably good.

Public Relations is not the type of education for the job you seek. The pay is very good, up to $l50K and there is the travel that you seek.
