Based on limited information you have provided, I would do as follow: I would let my family move as planned, and will take the current job offer, setting up a temporary living accommodations. At the same time I would follow my job prospects at the new location on the phone and through the Internet. I agree about the jobcentre staff - I used to be on benefits and they were absolutely useless, their attitude was very 'make it someone else's problem'. They could never answer a question themselves, they would just give me a phone number, which kind of makes their job obsolete! #

I claimed JSA after moving too, and I had to move to the other end of the country and so leave my job too, so you should be fine. All I had to do was fill out a couple more forms than normal giving the exact reasons, proving that there was no choice but for me to leave and then they sent off letters to my previous employer to make sure there were no other reasons for me leaving. Keep all your documents showing that you knew you were moving, and if you can get anything in writing from the jobcentre that says they knew about your situation then that's even better.

The reason they push you take th job is because if you didn't then you wouldn't be classed as actively seeking work, and so you wouldn't be able to claim benfits from now until you move. If you wanted to make it easier you could just tell the employers that you're moving, then they probably wouldn't hire you. And the jobcentre wouldn't be allowed to complain that you didn't outright lie to them, but they wouldn't find out anyway as you could say 'they didn't give me it, I don't know why'.
