Merchant Navy Girlfriend?

Hi,

My boyfriend is starting with the merchant navy this year, and basically I wanted to find out a bit more about it from a partners point of view. I've found loads of information on what life is like at sea, and what he will be doing there, etc. but I can find next to nothing regarding life for the person left behind. I know it will be different for everyone and I don't plan on putting my life on hold or anything but it would be nice to have a website to go to for tips/read some blogs/etc.

Any advice in that area would be greatly appreciated!
