Mean HR rep. Thoughts?

I've been at my company for about a month. I forgot to respond to an email because I got busy with my work. When we (my coworkers and I ) realized what had happened, I apologized and we talked about how to avoid this in the future.

No biggie, right?

Well, HR rep can't seem to let it go (the email didn't even concern her). She's sent out multiple emails about it (my forgotten reply), and even came into my office to ask me about it. Her tone is really condescending and abrasive. She even came in and said, "Do you know how to read a calendar?" Then she asked "Why aren't you responding to my emails?"

I showed her my sent folder. I was responding. Politely.

How should I deal with this?

If she's not a senior employee I suggest you ask your manager if he could take a look through a problem you are having with your emails. Sit him down at your pc and show him all the emails she's sent out about you. Ask if it's normal company policy or if you might have done something to offend this lady - ask for his advice!

She might just start leaving you alone. Always expose bullying in the workplace.

You need to talk about it with your boss. Stay professional, and let them know the facts, and that you thought this was solved, you talked it over and know not to let this happen again. Also ask if there is something outstanding that you need to be aware of, because you really want to focus on your job. That makes the person responsible for your work aware of what is happening, and they can then step in if it continues.

HR is, among other things, responsible for making sure that people are productive in their jobs, and that they know when problems exist. They are also either share in or drive the responsibility of making sure that people are supported in their role. What you describe is a distraction, not supportive and causing you not to focus on your work.
