Job application, I didnt even get an interview!?
I applied for a job with a big company. I have specific and completely relevant experience and knowledge of the job on offer (which is incredibly specialised) and I havent even got an interview. I got a standard 'email response' telling me I was unsuccessfull for an interview, and as the job had lots of response they are 'unable to give me feed back on my CV'. Well I have a friend who works at this company and I know that my experience and training is absolutely perfectly matched for this job (and my CV shows this). Should I try and contact them again despite the standard reply? I cannot understand how I didnt at least get an interview for this. They advertised a need for more than one applicant for this position (full time and part time). Really I'm not blowing my own trumpet, but I have knowledge of the specifics of this job (which wasnt mentioned on the advert) and am at a loss as to why I havent even been asked for an interview. Should I contact them again? And what 'tack' should I take? Thanks in advance.

Just because you're very qualified for a job doesn't mean you will automatically get an interview. You already got your rejection email, so just suck it up and move on. |

Your friend should put in a reccomendation for you. Remember though, there are a lot of people looking for jobs right now and they may have found people more qualified. |

Are you an ethnic minority or a woman, disabled, old? If so you may have been illegally discriminated against, send in your CV again exactly the same but with "Mr Peter Smith" age 30 as the name. If they ask your for an interview this time, you can take them to court for damages. |

I would just to get an explanation and let them know your qualification. If I was you I would be careful with friend in the work place don't let anyone know your applying. So called friends tend to get jealous and don't want you to be better than them. |

Without seeing your resume I can Only give general advice. cheque spelling , give a cover letter , give a thank you letter after a response. look at the format of your resume and compare it to other professionally formatted resumes. have someone who is in a position of authority like a manager of a different company (someone you know as a friend or a family friend ) to look it over |

Although you are probably super qualified, it isn't necessary to call them or reapply just because you think it's wrong you didn't get it. It's their loss, just find a better place that'll want you. |
