Is this unusual at all?
5 weeks ago, I got hired at mcdonalds and got a workers permit. I never got called back for orientation. I went in to talk to the manager, since i got a new job, and she was out. An asst. manager said she'd be back and she'd tell her to call me.
she never called.
since then, mcdonalds has now put up a sign for "now hiring"
so i dont get it....

It's unprofessional, and unfortunately it's not as unusual as I would like it to be. It sounds like you need closure on whether or not you actually will be working at McD's or not. If you want the job, call them and ask for, by name, the person that hired you. Let them know that you are still awaiting a time for orientation and that you have all the proper documents to start work. |

If you got hired and didn't go to work before 5 weeks than I'd say they moved on. Maybe they forgot, maybe a miscommunication caused them to think you weren't interested. Either way 5 weeks is long enough. It's McDonalds not the Presidency. |

It is unusual. Go back during their slow hours (2:00 - 4:00 pm) and try to catch the manager that hired you. Go back several times if you have to. It IS possible they changed their mind and decided to hire someone else, but they hire and fire people almost every day. They have a very hard time keeping good, hard working people who show up when they are supposed to. |
