Is this enough experience for babysitting?

When looking for a babysitting job,

is it enough to say that you've taken care of your younger siblings and some relatives kids, and that you love kids, and have been a kindergarten monitor at your school (watching the little kids at lunch time, recess, etc.) ?

or do you need a babysitting course or CPR course or something as well ?

I'm trying to get a first time babysitting job but I have never had one before ... this will be my VERY FIRST job. I'm 15 years old.

and my parents don't have any friends that have young kids that they could ask about a babysitting job, so please don't suggest that. i already know that would be great but still, there's no one for me..

please help

thanks in advance.

You don't really need all that experience, so you already have a leg up :) i took a babysitting course from the red cross and no one ever asked to see a certificate, etc. as long as you have common sense enough to not let a 3 yr old near a hot stove or rat poison you should be all set haha! also know when to dial 911 if necessary, obviously.

parents will probably be at ease knowing that you've been trusted with kids before, so mention it if you can. 15 is a good age.. i started at like 13 so i know that people like older teens watching their kids :)

i would ask for $10 an hour, definitely. (not in your question but worth mentioning!)

if you are having trouble finding a job, ask around your neighborhood or ask your parents to put a flier up at their workplace. fliers at the library (childrens section.. they usually have a bulletin board somewhere), post office, or any public place are great! make sure you put your age, name, and a way to contact you. play up your skills/experience!

Hi and don't worry about this first job thing too much. Fifteen is a great age to have your first baby sitting job. Be sure your parents know the people and they all agree it's a good deal, but don't fret that you don't have corporate references yet. It is not expected. You will earn them in time, just as you will get your first references this way, from your first job. Good luck! It is going to be great. You'll see.
