Is it ok to be a secretary when you are straight out of college?

I was an intern at an investment firm. I do not want to apply to be a financial advisor at the firm and am waiting until I find another job. Now, they have my title as "Client Service Associate" (another name for secretary).

Would it better to quit the job than to be known as a secretary?

No, don't quit your job. It will look good on your resume if you stay and work there for a couple years until you find something better. It shows that you are a reliable employee.

You won't be 'known' as merely a secretary. I personally had some rather bad jobs when I was putting myself through college (think of graveyard shift at a 7-11 store for example). But I always stuck to them for on average of two years. They are on my resume. Now, I am employed as an accounting clerk for a major company - they don't view me as a convenience store clerk. They see that I know what I'm doing, and they liked my habit of being a reliable and dependable worker at previous jobs, regardless of what they were.
