Is it more important that a resume is one page long or that it is well formatted?
I find it very difficult to keep a resume to one page while also doing myself justice. It is possible, but it would require miniscule margins and tiny font.
I have read that a lot of recruiters now frown on this kind of bad formatting as much as (or moreso than) a 2-page resume.
Thoughts?

It depends. What I heard from recruiters is that if you're straight out of college, you're expected to have a one-page resume. However, if you're an experienced hire, a two page resume is normal. When making a two-page resume, it's best to have your 2nd page be just about work experience while your 1st page lists everything else (education background, certifications, etc). This is what I've heard from recruiters. |

BOTH are equally important. You know, I had a resume that was just a LITTLE over a page. When I went to the temp agency (to which found me a job) the guy there did just a few little adjustments for what he said employers were looking for these days. He took off my "statement" for one, which I loved but he said ppl didn't care about that...it worked. Maybe someone at a temp agency could help you on that. |

Generally, workshops on resume writing tell us to keep our resume short and brief by making a one page resume. You don't need to fit all info in a page that you need to decrease margin size to .1". :)) What you need to do is to choose the top/most valuable items in your "list/credentials." |

That is the hard part about doing a search online for job search tips or resume tips. These tips are typically standard and supposed to work for everyone, but you need to do what is right for you. I was a hiring manager for a retail store. I personally didnt care whether resumes where one page or two. Anything more than two was usually a turnoff though. |
