Is it better to apply for jobs online or in store?

I plan on job hunting tomorrow and I wanted to know which gives me a better chance at finding a summer job.

Also, if I decide to print the application at home and turn it in at the store, who do I give the application to?

I'm new to all of this.

Personal connection always works best. Call the store in advance, let them know you're interested in getting a job with them, and ask them for the name of the person who hires people so you can address them directly. Even if they say, 'There are no jobs available,' say, 'Thank you, but I really do like your store and would love to work there, and I'd still like to meet with and submit my application (or resume') to Mr. Jones in case an opening comes up in the future.'

Then send Mr Jones a letter (addressed to Mr. Jones by name) or somehow arrange for a meeting just to let him know you're interested.

Names on paper are just names on paper. People in person, people who have enthusiasm, sincerity, admiration for their possible potential employer, people who have big smiles and make eye contact--these are the people who get jobs.

ONE OTHER THING: NETWORK. Let it be known to all your friends and acquaintances that you're looking for a summer job. NETWORKING accounts for 80% of all jobs that people get.

Good luck!

If your giving them in person make sure to ask for a manager and give it to them in person

I would say you are more likely to get the job if you apply in the store, however, most jobs do thier applications online so you don't get the chance.

I would call and ask if a place is hiring or look at a job's website first to save time and gas money.

Try Job boards like careerbuilders.com, monster, snagajob.com; they help a lot b/c the recruiters come to you.

Cater your resume and cover letter to each specific job; it takes extra time but it's worth it.
