Is a polo shirt considered casual wear for the office?

I am starting a new job in a couple days and was told in the interview that it is a casual dress environment and that jeans are okay as long as they don't have any holes. I was also told that they prefer the office girls not to wear regular t-shirt. They want us to wear something a little more dressy.....would a polo shirt be a little more dressy than a t-shirt? I have a ton of polo shirts because that was the uniform from my previous employer {there are no company names on them}. Please help I want to make a good impression at my new job. Thanks

Business casual dress codes are usually fine with polo shirts and khakis. Given that your new office allows jeans I would assume that polos would be just fine. |

Polo shirts sound perfect. Anything with a collar would be fine. Or wear plain-colored t-shirts but with a blouse or sweater over it. |

Polo is usually on the tip of casual, it is considered more classy then casual because it usually costs more, and looks better. I would suggest a solid color for it so you look more classy. |

For the first few days you might wear something a little more dressy, even though a polo shirt is likely just fine. But, if you wait and see what others are wearing for a little while you will know for sure. |

To play it safe...wear the Polo but wear a open jacket or nice light sweater on top of it. If when you get to work...the coast looks clear to just take the jacket or sweater off...do it. If not...you are still in the clear by having the extra coverage. |
