Is 'punching out' the same thing as "final sign-off" at work?

Category: Other

I'm new to working & am 19 years old and just got my first job at CVS/Pharmacy but I only worked two days and I'm not sure how to "punch out" at work. All I know is that it is a touch-screen computer system and it is up by the front register where I work. Help, please?

Thanks in advance.

"Final sign off" is what you use when you are basically "done" using the register and don't anticipate using it in the near future. A "regular sign off" logs you off the register so others don't make transactions on your employee numbers. Other employees cannot use that register without a manager card unless you do a final sign off.

Punching in/out is what hourly employees use to start/end their shift and for taking lunch breaks.

Ask your manager. He/she will walk you through the process.
