I want to quit my job in a month? any advice?

Hello
I have been working for a day care for almost a year now, and i want to quit before i start summerschool, because in the summer i plan to do mostly volunteerwork and won't have time for a job.
I need advice on what steps I should take to resign from the job, without seeming too rude, and leaving there with a postive note, because my little brother attends there.
I have a friend that would love to take my position, is it unessary to mention that to them? Or should i just grab an application for her and walk out? I feel as if i should mention her in some way, but i'm not sure, ive never had to quit a job before.
Also, what about a letter of resignation? do i need one of those for a daycare? how much of a notice should i give them?

Give two weeks written notice, and verbal notice when you hand in your letter. Let them feel like you appreciated the job, and that you are giving an application to your friend right away. Since your brother is there, be sure not to criticize or argue. Keep your reason for leaving simply to school and pursuing other avenues. Good Luck. |
